Heart of the Carolina

Three unique basic pendant designs center around the Heart of Carolina; each design simplified and "detailed" with an Appalachian height map scaled to perfection. To achieve this level of detail, some simplification was necessary in the coastal region and outer banks. The result prints beautifully within ten minutes, boasting dimensions of approximately 1 1/4 inches wide. These pendants can be used as a foundation for casting or printed directly in ABS or PLA with impressive results. A chain can be woven through the back of the "heart_of_nc_detail" design, but this model may require supports and some post-processing to drill and clean up the eyelets. To produce this piece, I printed it face down with support. The other designs allow for a chain or chain ring to be looped through the hole with ease. I plan to use these pendants as a starting point for casting experiments and will also send one through Shapeways to see how it turns out in production quality.
