LEGACY PAGE : I HAVE WITHDRAWN THE PARAMETRIC MODELS BUT HAVE LEFT THE PAGE TO RETAIN DOWNLOAD & "LIKE" DATAThis 3D Parametric model of the Hearse, was produced primarily from the Ivan Collins drawing dated 1958. Ivan Collins lifelong passion was for documenting & making horse carriage models generally of 1/8th scale. Upon his passing in 1971, his collection of model horse carriages & drawings were bequeathed to the Oregon Historical Society (Portland Oregon) whom as curators, have made available reissued prints of the Ivan Collins’ varied horse drawn carriage drawings. This set of models is in regards to the undercarriage and the carriage wheels. The type of wheels used are with mortised wooden hub, quarter sawn felloes, steel rim & compressed rubber tire wheels. The wheels were dished( rim offset from vertical center by 1 ½ degree). Hearses of this period were mainly black in colour and some in white. Sayers & Scovill carriage works were set up in Cincinnati Ohio in 1876. At that period, Cincinnati would be viewed as a major horse drawn carriage fabrication center as we would view Detroit in the 1960’s for the automotive industry. Carriage production was segmented by the different trades involved. Most trades would have their own internal department for manufacture but also 3rd party vendors would provide goods or aftermarket parts.Technical reference material was obtained from various publications & online Google searches. Much of which was purchased through online sales of books from the Carriage Museum of America (CMA). Primary source and credit should go to Ivan Collins & the Portland Historical Society for the Hearse drawing.
