Headstock casting CAD for SIEG mini lathe
prusaprinters

This is a CAD model I did for my SIEG mini lathe in order to look at the spacing of components on the main spindle when upgrading it to NSK tapered roller bearings. All dimensions were measured from my actual casting, which is from a vintage 2015 Harbor Freight PN 93212 7x10 unit.

There are some variations with different versions of the mini lathe, but in general the same headstock design is used regardless of the length of the bed (7x10, 7x14, etc.). One detail of this particular model is that there are only 3 bolts holding the headstock to the bed; I have seen ones with four bolts. You will need to check your own unit, but I hope this model - which took some time to make - will be helpful for anyone considering headstock modifications.

The OnShape CAD is here: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/a2489203aad37f32bcc58b0f/w/ca71595287f57db2de40ab0b/e/7eb2ac0eee758c105743232d

I've included downloadable STL and STEP files for convenience, but you will probably want to just go copy the OnShape document and edit to suit your own unit.
