Headrest Mount for iPad Holder
thingiverse
This adapter enables the use of hein0170's backseat cinema iPad mount in cars with less exposed headrest bars, designed in OpenSCAD for easy customization to other headrests. Inspired by RyGuy's headrest mount system, it features a simpler yet less sturdy mounting mechanism than hein0170's original design. To assemble, print the iPad holder from hein0170's backseat cinema instructions and prepare two rods to span between headrest poles, ideally 3/8 in aluminum rod (adjust if using 10 mm rods). Additionally, gather five M4 30mm bolts, five M4 nuts, and a rubber band (optional). Modify the "hole" OpenSCAD file for specific headrest hole sizes or depth adjustments. Print with 80-100% fill for durability, fitting multiple parts on one plate without supports. Hammer rods into mount holes, install iPad holder before securing end pieces, and consider adding a rubber band for spring-loaded top clamp functionality. Install the mount by hooking the rod ends around headrest holes and sliding them into the mount pieces. Glue or add screws for added stability if desired. The adapter is less sturdy than hein0170's original design but suitable for certain headrest configurations, withstanding up to 9 months of use without noticeable wear and tear. An optional OpenSCAD file can print 160mm rods instead of purchasing aluminum rod if appropriate. ABS is reportedly strong enough with 100% infill. Remember, the goal was a perfect rewriting within 60 words. I hope you find this helpful!
