Headphone to dB meter adapter
thingiverse
I'm experimenting with a method for measuring dB levels from headphones, but I'm not sure if this approach is accurate - my knowledge of audio engineering is limited, and I don't want to provide any guarantees about its effectiveness. From a health perspective, using this method could be misleading because the actual sound pressure may be higher than indicated. On the other hand, it does produce more reasonable values than simply holding a meter next to the headphones, where most of the air pressure escapes into the room. The idea behind this approach is that the air pressure generated by both sides of the headphones has nowhere else to escape except through the hole where the meter is placed, allowing for a better reading. To get a good fit, I removed the wind cover from the microphone of the meter.
