Human: Royal heads were worn proudly from waist belts by members of the ruling dynasty to assert their birthright to rule. This head was discovered near Copan, although the glyphic text identifies a lord from Palenque. The mother of Yax-Pac, the final king of Copan, hailed from Palenque; she may have brought the head to Copan at the time of her wedding. This object is part of "Scan The World".
