myminifactory
This is a remarkable head-portrait sculpture featuring Zeus Laborious, or Labrandeus for short. Unearthed in Phasoula, Labraunda, Cyprus, this stunning work of art showcases a local icon of Zeus, standing tall with his left hand grasping the distinctive lotus-tipped sceptre and his right shoulder proudly bearing the double-headed axe known as the labrys. The cult statue itself was a gift from Hecatomnus, the founder of the dynasty, as recorded in an ancient inscription that has survived to this day.
