Head of the Xanten Boy - a Roman Bronze
sketchfab
The Xanten Boy is a stunning Roman bronze statue crafted possibly during the first century AD. It was likely misplaced during the third century when Germanic tribes, raiding the Roman provinces, were unable to haul their wagons loaded with treasure across the Rhine River. The artifact resurfaced near Xanten, Germany in 1858 after being discovered by local fishermen and is now proudly showcased at the Neues Museum on Museum Island in Berlin. This detailed model of just the head was meticulously crafted from 50 photographs using Agisoft Photoscan technology.
