Head of King Amenmesse

This head now proudly stands within the great Hypostyle Hall at Karnak alongside its statue body. Inscriptions on its lower section reveal that it was crafted for Amenmesse and subsequently seized, following his brief reign, by Seti II. Its striking features unmistakably echo those of young Ramesses II, highlighting a notable trend in royal art during this era to emulate the style of the greatest king within their dynasty.
