Head of Juno
myminifactory
Juno is a powerful Roman goddess who fiercely protects and advises the state as its special counselor. Born to Saturn, she marries Jupiter and gives birth to Mars, Vulcan, Bellona, and Juventas. As the Roman equivalent of Hera, queen of Greek mythology's gods, Juno's sacred animal is the majestic peacock. Her Etruscan counterpart Uni watches over her, and Juno also safeguards the women of Rome. As the patron goddess of Rome and the Roman Empire, Juno is known as Regina ("Queen") and is a vital member of the Capitoline Triad (Juno Capitolina) on Rome's iconic Capitoline Hill, alongside Jupiter and Minerva, goddess of wisdom. Juno's fierce warrior aspect is evident in her attire. Often depicted armed and wearing a goatskin cloak, this image was influenced by the Greek goddess Athena, who wielded a goatskin shield called the 'aegis'. This striking portrait of Juno was showcased at Masterpiece London fair in 2017. To learn more about this annual event, follow the link provided.
