This stunning marble bust captures the likeness of a legendary Homeric hero, a replica of a long-lost Hellenistic original. A second version of this head was discovered along with its body in Sperlonga, just south of Rome, where it depicted a figure carrying a wineskin as part of a group scene showing Odysseus and his men blinding Polyphemus. The Sperlonga group, dating back to the 1st century AD, is a copy of an earlier Hellenistic original created around 200 BC. It was unearthed at Hadrian's Villa in Trivola and now forms part of the Townley Collection at The British Museum, where it remains on permanent display. This object is part of "Scan The World", a non-profit project initiated by MyMiniFactory that aims to create a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access.
