Head of Helios

Head of Helios

myminifactory

This imposing head of Ancient Greek origin formed a striking part of a colossal statue of Helios, the revered god of sunlight. Renowned for his extraordinary beauty and stature, he commanded attention as a majestic titan, skillfully driving the chariot of light across the radiant sky, while an unmistakable shining aureole crowned his magnificent head, with visible holes in the sculpture's hair indicating where the gleaming aureole was carefully secured. The head suffered severe damage from a devastating fire that ravaged the collector's house in Berlin, leaving it severely marred. Fortunately, it was generously donated to the museum in 1944, providing a treasured addition to its impressive collection.
