Asclepius stands as a legendary figure in ancient Greek mythology, revered as both a hero and god of medicine. His profound influence on the healing arts is reflected through his daughters, each embodying distinct aspects of health and wellness: Hygieia represents cleanliness, sanitation, and overall well-being; Iaso embodies recovery from illness; Aceso personifies the healing process itself; Aglæa/Ægle signifies good health, radiating a warm glow; and Panacea symbolizes universal remedy. As Apollo's son, he shares the esteemed title Paean, signifying his role as a powerful healer. The rod of Asclepius, adorned with an entwined snake, remains an enduring emblem of medicine to this day. Those devoted physicians and attendants who served Asclepius were known as the Therapeutae of Asclepius. This exquisite sculpture is a masterful Roman replica of a Greek original masterpiece. It has been generously contributed to "Scan The World", a groundbreaking initiative spearheaded by MyMiniFactory, aimed at creating a comprehensive digital archive of 3D printable sculptures and artworks from around the globe.
