Head of Apollo
myminifactory
This head of Apollo comes from a study started in 1900 by Bourdelle. At the time he was still working as Rodin’s assistant and was willing to detach his art style from the artist’s one. This head is the result of a complex study and work started in 1900 when the artist rediscovered his clay version of this sculpture. He then remodelled it and restyled it until he finished the creation of the final piece in 1909. Also, Bourdelle explains how this sculpture reflects the drama of his life. Half sculpture appears to be completed while the other half seems still in progress, troubled.
