Yemen VR Project Unveiled This extraordinary headgear is deeply connected to the ancient kingdom of Qataban, one of five mighty kingdoms that dominated southern Arabia alongside Ma'in, Saba, Himyar, and Hadhramaut. Pliny the Elder documented Timna, the capital city of this bygone era, as a thriving metropolis boasting an astonishing 65 temple complexes. Its prosperity was fueled by its stranglehold on the lucrative cinnamon and incense trade routes of ancient times. Archaeological excavations in the 1950s, led by renowned American archaeologist Wendell Phillips, shed new light on Qataban's mysterious past as chronicled in his groundbreaking book 'Qataban and Sheba: Exploring the Ancient Kingdoms on the Biblical Spice Routes of Arabia' published in London in 1955.
