This valuable artifact was unearthed in Palmyra.\r\nPalmyra seamlessly merged with the Roman Empire after being annexed and paying tribute during Tiberius's early reign, approximately 14 AD. The Romans carefully integrated Palmyra into the province of Syria, clearly defining its borders; a boundary marker established by Roman governor Silanus was discovered 75 kilometres northwest of the city at Khirbet el-Bilaas. A notable marker at the city's southwestern edge was unearthed at Qasr al-Hayr al-Gharbi, and its eastern border stretched out to the Euphrates valley. This extensive region encompassed numerous villages directly subordinate to the central authority such as al-Qaryatayn (by 2012, thirty-five other settlements had been identified).
