Head of a Ram at The Réunion des Musées Nationaux, Paris
myminifactory
This stunning head of a ram is a show-stopping decorative section of an enormous vase on display at The Louvre in Paris. The vase was part of a pair, which unfortunately has gone missing, commissioned by the general director of King Philibert Orry's buildings back in 1742 to decorate the park of Chateau Choisy (which sadly were never placed there). Two other vases, featuring Autumn attributes, can be found at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, crafted by renowned French sculptors Jean-Baptiste Pigalle and Nicolas-Sébastien Adam. All four vessels were carefully carved from drawings created by Ange-Jacques Gabriel, the first king's architect. Learn more about the Autumn vase here.
