Despite decades of intensive research efforts, all fragments of the Great Pergamon Frieze remain unassigned their original location. This head, a colossal figure, remains one such enigma despite its remarkably even facial features. The giant's wild hair and extravagant beard are unmistakable hallmarks of a fierce opponent of the gods. Its bold, unruly locks and distinctive hairline between the eyebrows are characteristic of how Greek artists depicted giants as powerful and unbridled beings. Like many other rebellious hybrids, this colossal figure appears to be gazing upwards, clearly a fighting deity in every sense. With its mouth open in anticipation of unleashing a mighty scream, it's clear that this giant is preparing for battle.
