Head of a Gaul
myminifactory
This magnificent Head of a Gaul stands out as one of the most impressive masterpieces of Alexandrian Art from 2nd Century BC. The tightly coiled hair and bushy moustache unmistakably define this ancient warrior's Celtic heritage. Originating in the Egyptian Museum, the original work was likely unearthed in Arsinoe/Krokodilopolis, now known as Kom Fais in Egypt's Fayum region. Despite significant damage to the sculpture, it remains strikingly clear that the warrior is experiencing intense pain, as evident from his furrowed eyebrows, twisted head, and wild hair.
