Head of a Female Figurine
myminifactory
Unique for its size, this head bears witness to the mastery of marble sculpture in the Cycladic civilisation during the time known as the Early Bronze Age (2750-2300 BC). The head belonged to an upright statue, arms folded across the chest and legs together, like the figurines with crossed arms of the so-called Spedos type. The complete work stood about 1.5 m. tall. Its function remains a mistery.
