Head of a Buddha

Head of a Buddha

myminifactory

This enormous bronze Buddha head stands at over one meter in height, comprising the sole surviving fragment of a colossal statue. Such an image would have been extremely costly to create, suggesting it originated from a significant temple. The head was crafted in sections, demonstrating the exceptional skill of its sculptors, despite its substantial size and weight of around 100 kilograms. Remarkably, the metal itself is only three millimeters thick, yet the sections are so thin and finely detailed that features like the lips and eyes can be clearly discerned in hollow relief within. The bronze mixture used in this sculpture consists of a rare alloy combining copper, iron, tin, and lead.
