Head of a Bearded Man from a Grave or Votive Statue
myminifactory
Athens or Aegina (Greece) received the Sabouroff Collection in 1884; marble, crafted between 550 - 540 BC. The well-groomed beard of an older man sets apart the high-quality "Sabouroff head" from archaic statues of youthful males (kouroi). The rough chipping on hair and beard made it a surface for plaster additions but does not reveal the precise statue function. This object is part of "Scan The World." Scan the World, a non-profit initiative by MyMiniFactory, creates a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks worldwide for public access at no cost.
