The head is a replica of an original sculpture of a standing athlete, crafted by the renowned sculptor Lysippos in ancient times. The original artwork, dating back to the 4th Century BC, is now preserved at the Albertinum museum for future generations to admire. Additional information on this remarkable piece can be found in Hermann's work from 1925 (No. 235), as well as Johnson's book on Lysippos published in 1927 and Smith's comprehensive guide from 1991, which features a photograph of the entire statue.
