Hi,\r\n\r\nI've spent three days designing and downloading other mask support devices for friends and family who work in medical fields or interact with the public during this unprecedented time.\r\n\r\nAs a former US Army member, I'm no stranger to protective masks. However, most designs, including my variation, are insufficient regarding comfort.\r\n\r\nI'm a c-pap user when sleeping, so one night I decided to create a modified design for everyone to print and use. I designed and printed 10 variations, focusing on six iterations of this design with different materials and settings to achieve the desired result.\r\n\r\nThis design resembles a turtle but was created to ensure comfort. It requires significant real estate, so it's best printed on my Flashforge Creator 3. As mentioned earlier, I tried various designs and filament types; Dupont's Hytrel material produced the most impressive results.\r\n\r\nDupont's Zytel and Hytrel are now my preferred filaments due to their exceptional quality. If you have NinjaFlex (TPU), it might also work well, but other TPU brands did not meet my expectations.\r\n\r\nIf Dupont makes it, I'm a converted customer! Matterhackers can provide Dupont's Hytrel 3D Filament 3D4100FL with a Shore Hardness: 60D; find it on their website:\r\nhttps://www.matterhackers.com/s/store?q=hytrel\r\n\r\nI've included the Fusion 360 design, along with step and STL models.\r\n\r\nFor printing, I recommend using the 9 individual STL files:\r\nHead_Craddle_Mk6.stl\r\nHook_BootmRight.stl\r\nHook_BottomLeft.stl\r\nHook_TopLeft.stl\r\nHook_TopRight.stl\r\nStrap_BottmRight.stl\r\nStrap_BottomLeft.stl\r\nStrap_TopLeft.stl\r\nStrap_TopRight.stl\r\n\r\nTo import the models, use Simplify3D and uncheck Tools>Options>Models>"Automatically center and arrange imported models." Then, select one model, Ctrl+A to select all, and Ctrl+G to group them. Once grouped, select Edit>Center and Orange Models to center on the build platform.\r\n\r\nUnchecking all models except Head_Craddle_Mk6.stl, create a process with a .3 mm layer height according to your printer's requirements. After that, uncheck Head_Craddle_Mk6.stl, check all other models, and create a process with a .18-.2 mm height per your printer specifications.\r\n\r\nFinally, select "Prepare to Print" and all processes. On my Flashforge Creator 3, it takes about 1.5 hours to print one. If you have this printer, use the included Head_Craddle_SurgicalMaskHolder_MK6.g file or create your own using the factory file.\r\n\r\nI'm pleased with this design, but if you're skilled at design, please improve it if you have a better idea than I.\r\n\r\nPrinting for others is essentially printing for yourself and your loved ones. Please support local first responders!\r\n\r\nRemember, this design is free! If you can't afford the material but can print them for others, collect donations to buy materials for printing. 100% not for profit!
