HE3D EI3 Dual Z Drive, Z-Nut Holder
thingiverse
The HE3D EI3 printer boasts a dual Z guiding system, but only features a single Z drive on one side. Furthermore, the clutch is mounted atop the unit. This placement creates a significant axial force on the clutch, yet it's not engineered to withstand such stresses. Consequently, the clutch deforms, which can have a detrimental impact on print quality. From an engineering perspective, it would be more effective to have drives at both ends and bearings that handle axial forces. In this configuration, the lower bearing would absorb these forces. This solution links screws with a timing belt and is driven by one stepper motor, ensuring it remains in sync - normally. My design requires machining the spindle ends to accommodate gear mounting. The retrofit kit consists of three distinct printed components plus metal parts (bearing, lead screw, etc.). The included parts are: - Z-Nut Holder - Top / Bottom bearing holder - large - Top / Bottom bearing holder - small You can find the remaining two items in my uploads.
