HDD activity LED Lamp
thingiverse
A holder for an HDD activity LED. I printed in white, then painted the outside black except for the "lens" on the front, which acts as a diffuser. The body is a barrel shape, with a cylinder-shaped plug which goes into the open back end. The plug has a cutout for two adjacent 1-pin dupont connectors, into which the LED leads plug. The base has a cutout for an 8mm-diameter by 2mm height neodymium magnet. I am writing a tutorial for making the LED light, going over things like cutting, stripping, and crimping the wires and everything else. I'll update here once it is completed. I used a white LED. I used 28 AWG wire in black and white. I used black nail polish to paint the outside. I would recommend putting masking tape over the diffuser before painting, removing the tape after paint is dry.
