HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor Enclosure facing downwards

HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor Enclosure facing downwards

thingiverse

An enclosure for the HC-SR04 unltrasonic chip to measure the distance e.g. for cisterns or oil tanks. The sensor is facing downwards, the lid can be removed without disassembling the bottom part. This has to be done once in a while, if the sensor fails due to humid environments. I still found this sensor to be the most practical one compared to waterproof chips (e.g. JSN-SR04) or TOF sensors (VL53L0X) given the smaller effectual measuring angle and the precision for distances > 1m. It's a cheap chip, so replacing it like once a year or so should not be to pricey (or enviromentally too harmful). The hole for the cable will accept a PG7 cable gland. M4 30mm bolts and nuts for the enclosure lid will be flush with the bottom (fit intentionally tight, use a hammer to press the nuts in).
