HBP Heated Build Plate For The Makerbot Replicator 2 & 2X - Makes Your Replicator A Real Tool!
myminifactory
The Replicator 2X already has a heated build plate, but it's not really high quality. The Replicator 2 does not have one at all. Without a heated build plate, you can only print PLA; the heated build plate breaks this limitation and enables ABS and many other filaments. PLA can be printed better with the heated build plate too! While you need 90°C for ABS, you can work with 60°C for PLA, and the material sticks perfectly at this temperature, resulting in less or no warping on bigger prints. Our build plate uses the whole build volume of your Replicator 2 or 2X, making it larger than the original 2X HBP. This results in a more stable temperature at the side areas. The plate is "plug & print," meaning you don't need to solder anything. Both versions have the same board, so both versions have connectors for the heated build plate and temperature sensor, which are both integrated into our plate. You just plug it in one connector and connect the heater with two screw clamps on the board - that's it! The build plate is CNC made from aluminum casting, allowing for smooth warming and preventing warping while warming. The build plate can be used with tape as usual, but we've also integrated four magnets. We'll offer some snap-on surface plates made from glass and other materials soon. You can put these on top of the build plate to play around with different surface materials. Glass is perfect for serial parts: you print when heated, and it sticks well; after cooling down, you can just take off the object without force. You can read about these materials in several forums. The changing of snap-on plates is very easy and fast due to the magnets. What's part of the offer: a completely preassembled build plate with integrated heater and temperature sensor, complete with wires and terminals, as well as a detailed assembly guide. The Replicator 2 usually ships with a 6.25A power supply, but the 2X has a stronger 9.2A power supply. We've made some tests: With the original 6.25A power supply of the Replicator 2: * Preheat time to 60°C (we use this for PLA) is 2 minutes and 10 seconds. * Preheat time to 90°C (we use this for ABS) is 5 minutes and 5 seconds. * Preheat time to 100°C is 6 minutes and 5 seconds. With the 9.2A power supply of the 2X (you can order this separately from us if you want): * Preheat time to 60°C is 1 minute and 49 seconds. * Preheat time to 90°C is 4 minutes and 28 seconds. * Preheat time to 100°C is 5 minutes and 36 seconds. Time needed for the upgrade: about 10 minutes, which can be done by anyone without special skills. The set can be built out and downgraded to the original factory condition without problems. There's no manipulation on the original parts needed. The upgrade build plate is compatible with the original Replicator 2 & 2X Z-axis as well as our Z-axis upgrade. 100% made in Germany.
