upd 19.01.2017: I've decided to switch to threaded inserts in all current and future projects. I'll be using brass inserts from now on. They have several advantages, including being able to solder them with a homemade nozzle. upd 11.01.2017: Project development has been put on hold until the parts arrive, which should be around a month from now. Additionally needed are: - GT2 wheels with 20 tooth timing belt pulleys -6 units https://www.aliexpress.com/item/GT2-H-Type-Passive-Synchronous-Wheel-20-Tooth-Teeth-Aluminum-Timing-Drive-Pulley-for-3D-Printer/32759997290.html - 2 step motors nema17 - GT2 wheel with 20 teeth for a 6mm belt and the belt itself, 2m long, 6mm wide https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-2Pcs-20-GT2-6-GT2-Pulley-And-2m-GT2-6mm-Open-GT2-Belt-for/1709450716.html I also ordered a 32-bit MKS SMINI control board for the 3D printer: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Smoothieware-controller-board-MKS-SMINI-open-source-32bit-Smoothieboard-Arm-integrated-mainboard-free-heatbed/32686439898.html upd: This is what I've managed to achieve so far. It's a 6th modification of the third version, 32-bit. The movement is smooth and there's almost no backlash, with 623zz bearings https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10pcs-lot-623ZZ-bearing-623-ZZ-3x10x4-Miniature-deep-groove-ball-bearing-623-2Z-ZZ-bearing/32643516798.html The bearings are of poor quality but I've managed to compensate for their flaws. M3x12 screws, M3 nuts and washers upd: I tried to remove some parts to save material but I think it's not worth it. It would be easier just to reduce the fill density. I'm working on a new project - an aluminum tube plotter based on the Hbot design, with 20mm diameter tubes and 624 bearings. The wall thickness is 2mm. Here are some images of the project so far. Any suggestions would be welcome. Postscript: I still haven't finished my 3D printer-based router project with a brushless motor. I don't think everyone has access to a lathe, and I haven't figured out how to do it without one yet. Thanks again to MPeter for his support of the projects.
