Various bits and pieces are being created to add detail to the Hasbro U-wing toy. These creations are for non-commercial purposes and have not been endorsed by Lucasfilm or Disney. The landing gear are designed so that a brass rod or tube is inserted down the middle, with another at about 45 degrees into the top greeblie, as printed struts were deemed too weak. Landing gear bay doors are attached using two 1.5mm deep (2.5mm wide and 5mm long) magnets to hold each in place. Guns are designed for a metal tube (roughly 1/16”) to go down the middle and form the barrel, allowing a fibre optic to be placed inside with an smd led to light it up. The original part of the toy is made from a very rubbery plastic that can't easily be drilled out. A new version of the front bulkhead (v4) has just been added, which is more accurate but still quite different to the films, as there isn't enough space to fit a full thickness bulkhead.
