This is a model of the British Hawker Hurricane fighter. Detailed textures including diffuse and bump maps are provided for modification in Photoshop template files available for download. The Hawker Aircraft Ltd designed the aircraft, with some production carried out in Canada by the Canada Car and Foundry Co Ltd. The Hawker Hurricane became famous during the Battle of Britain, overshadowed only by the Supermarine Spitfire. The 1930s design evolved through several versions and adaptations, resulting in a series of interceptor-fighters, fighter-bombers, and ground support aircraft. Sea Hurricanes were modified for operation from ships, with some converted as catapult-launched convoy escorts known as Hurricats. Together with the Supermarine Spitfire, the Hawker Hurricane enabled the Royal Air Force to win the Battle of Britain in 1940, accounting for most of the RAF's air victories. More than 14,000 Hurricanes were built by the end of 1944, including about 1,200 converted to Sea Hurricanes and some 1,400 built in Canada, serving in all major theaters of World War II.
