Hawk Effigy Pipe Replica Sits on Tremper Mound Site Tremper Mound, located in Scioto County, Ohio, is home to a unique archaeological find - the Hawk Effigy Platform Pipe. Dating back to the Middle Woodland period, also known as Hopewell (100 BC - AD 500), this replica of a pipestone artifact was created with precision and care. The original Hawk Effigy Platform Pipe was discovered by William C. Mills in 1915 and is now safely stored at the Ohio Historical Center in Columbus, Ohio. To preserve its legacy, a modeled replica was crafted for the North Carolina Archaeological Collection, housed within the Research Laboratories of Archaeology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Chris LaMack's skilled hands brought this ancient relic to life as a miniature representation, measuring 75.7 mm in length, 62.8 mm in width, and 50.9 mm in height. This meticulously crafted replica serves as a testament to human ingenuity and the importance of preserving cultural heritage for future generations.
