Hawaiian Islands with seafloor

myminifactory

The above sea level height-data for this project is sourced from the Space Shuttle Radar Topography Mission dataset and the seafloor from NOAA's ETOPO1 dataset. By combining these two heightmaps, I positioned the terrain on a high-resolution plane and added surrounding walls exactly at sea level. After painting the sea floor, I poured liquid resin into the model up to the walls. Once the resin had set, I painted the islands with acrylics and inks. The model was printed at 0.2mm layers, with three bottom and four top layers for a smooth sea floor. Filling the Model with Resin To create a transparent ocean, fill the model up to the sea level using any hard-setting liquid resin. The side walls should be aligned perfectly with the sea level.
