Hawaiian God: Ku
cults3d
The Hawaiian god Ku (god of war, politics and community) sculpted as a gift for my friend Chris Russell, who lived in Hawaii for a while and grew to love the islands, the people and the culture very much. I did a lot of study and tried to keep as close to the traditional style as I could. It's a big departure from my own very European and highly detailed style but I learned quickly that simple does not mean easy - you have to get it right with far fewer "props". He is a large model (in mm): ku_head_original: x: 195.79 y: 162.87: z: 267.96 ku_body: x: 176.29 y: 94.33 z: 270.96 ku_head_larger_bowl: x: 202.88 y: 204.43 z: 266.31 Assembled he is about 50cm tall! This model has a bowl shaped cavity in the head and the body is hollowed so it can be used a planter so anything with tendrils can be used to simulate his long braids. There are 2 versions of the head so if you do plan to use this model to house a live plant, I suggest you choose the head with the larger bowl. I would also recommend you choose a small plant (unless you have a printer with a HUGE print area :-)) The head will balance well sat into the body. The head an body are designed to allow water to drain out of holes in the feet so Ku will need to live somewhere where water doesn't matter or you will need to provide a plate/dish for him to stand in. He balances well on a flat surface. This is a free object for people to download and enjoy as it didn't feel right selling it (Ku is not my god after all). I have also prevented people from making changes to the model. However, if you are Hawaiian and would like to do something with this model, then send me a message on Twitter (@loubie3d) and we can discuss. If there is enough interest, I am happy to sculpt other Hawaiian gods
