Havok is a game engine used for programming games. I printed the Havok model in white Ultimaker PLA with 0.2mm resolution and 18% infill, using a 0.4mm nozzle and a skirt to ensure smooth prints. Designing the Model ------------------- To create the Havok design, I started by selecting a logo from my browser and converting it into an SVG format in Inkscape (see video). Next, I opened the file in Blender and transformed it into a 3D object. To refine the model, I repaired the file in Meshmixer and removed unnecessary aspects. Modeling a Keychain Template ----------------------------- Using 123D Design, I created a template for a keychain and combined it with the Havok logo. The finished model was then exported to Netfabb Online Service to reduce its filesize, saved as an STL file, and sliced for printing. Previewing and Printing the Model ----------------------------------- I was satisfied with the result after previewing it in my slicer and decided to print the model. Learning More About 2D-to-3D Design ------------------------------------- If you're interested in learning how I transformed a 2D picture into a 3D model, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6cmClwLhz8 (video under 6 minutes). Software Resources ------------------- To create your own 2D-to-3D designs, download Blender for free from https://www.blender.org/download/ and Inkscape from https://inkscape.org/nl/download/.
