The liver is the largest organ in the body and is located in the abdominal cavity on the right side, specifically below the diaphragm. As for its functions, the liver also counts as an excretory organ. This is because the liver helps with kidney function by breaking down certain toxic substances and producing ammonia, urea, and uric acid by utilizing nitrogen from amino acids. The process of breaking down toxic substances by the liver is called detoxification.
