Hatchbox Spool Container-THICK WALL
thingiverse
I designed several of the existing spool drawer designs before finally creating this one. Many had pegs on top that easily broke off and did not allow for compression, resulting in a loose action. Most of them had walls that were too thin, while the customizable ones only allowed thickening of the side walls. I could easily crush the box with little effort, which was unacceptable for my application. After two failed printings and much frustration, I opened Tinkercad and started from scratch. I have reinforced the walls to 4mm all around, removed the peg on top and replaced it with another hole for a machine screw. This will allow good compression so your drawers will stay in the closed position if tilted. I didn't like the half circle used for opening, so I created a tab. I can fill the box all the way to the top this way, but I have also included a holed version for those who would rather use it instead. - Enjoy Printing! *I used eight M4x12 machine screws for the top and bottom of each box. Tighten to your preferred swinging action. *Four top layers, four bottom layers, four shell thickness with 50% triangle infill and no supports took about nine and a half hours to print each box. I recommend printing with a brim to keep sharp corners from warping.
