Hatchbox Alpha 3D printer E3D fan mount
thingiverse
I have a brand-new Hatchbox Alpha Delta style printer and I've been putting it through its paces - printing several items straight for almost 36 hours without any issues. However, I made a rookie mistake and tried to print some steel-filled PLA (Proto Pasta) which ended up locking the hot end solid. To rectify the situation, I purchased an E3D metal hotend as recommended by subscribers here, and installed it with ease. The Ebross design (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1527300) worked like a charm, but I encountered a minor problem - the nozzle cooling fan wouldn't fit. Since this is my own design, I was able to modify it to be almost horizontal, allowing for a 50-degree redirection of air flow. This design is specifically tailored for a 40mm fan and can be used in any situation where you need a significant airflow redirection. Print Settings: Printer: Hatchbox Alpha Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .30 Infill: 10% Notes: You can print this standing up with the blower exhaust pointing upwards, eliminating the need for supports. However, be prepared for some drips in certain areas - you can either trim them off or leave them as is. How I Designed This: I used Cubify Invent 3D printer CAD software to design this part. Unfortunately, it appears that this software is no longer sold by 3D Systems.
