Hatchbox 1.75mm Filament Clip, strong, slim, stackable
thingiverse
I've finally settled on a design for the filament clip after tinkering with six different versions, and I'm excited to share this one with you. It features a sturdy wide looping clip that provides exceptional strength and durability while keeping the outside of the clip relatively thin and flat. This allows it to easily fit inside the original carton or be stacked on top of other spools as shown in the pictures, taking up minimal space. I store mine in stacks of two on a shelf and the clips create barely any gap. For the filament hole, I used a 2.2mm bore hole that flares out to 2.8 mm at each end, making it reversible for easy use. Once inserted, the cut end of your filament becomes grippy enough to stay in place when pulled tight, ensuring your spool remains organized on the shelf. I prefer using the design with the clip on the end because it allows me to easily identify which filament is stored in the spool from either the top or bottom. I've also included an alternative design where the clip is identical but the filament hole is positioned in the lower loop, ideal for storing spools upright as it keeps the filament within the confines of the spool. I'd appreciate any feedback or suggestions you may have and wish you happy printing!
