Hat Loom

Hat Loom

This versatile circular loom is tailor-made for crafting beanies! I happen to own an identical model that I picked up from Tchibo on a spontaneous purchase, and it's been my constant companion ever since. Although several similar designs exist on Thingiverse, none of them cater specifically to the type of hats I love making, so I decided to share this brilliant design with fellow enthusiasts. I tweaked the original blueprint slightly to ensure it can be 3D printed without requiring support materials. Simply print the loom and then proceed with fabricating the hook and needle. Knitting Instructions: Gather some yarn and secure a loose knot at the base. From one peg to the next, moving in a counterclockwise direction, loop the yarn clockwise around the subsequent peg. Repeat this process until you've formed a single row of loops. Gently push them down before adding a second row directly above the first. Next, utilize the hook to draw the lower loop on each peg over the higher one and across the head of the peg. Allow it to fall and move on to the next peg. Continue this pattern until you're left with only one row of loops per peg. At that point, lay down the hook or hold it between your teeth/ behind your ear and create a new yarn row using your hands. Repeat this process until you've achieved the desired length for your beanie. Bear in mind that folding back the initial few rows when placing the hat on your head creates a delightful fold, so account for approximately 10 extra rows to achieve the perfect look. Once satisfied with the hat's length, snip off about 1m of yarn and thread it through the needle. Then, carefully go through the final row of loops doubled up, allowing the loop to slide over the needle and onto the thread. Tighten securely. Finally, sew on a fluffy pom-pom, and your delightful beanie is complete!
