I'm fed up with having to sift through the vacuum pump oil of my HarvestRight freeze dryer after every batch. It's a real hassle, and I always end up spilling oil all over from the funnel and filter thing that HarvestRight supplies. The problem lies in the design of this funnel, which permanently attaches to the vacuum pump and has a built-in filter that can be replaced. To fix it, simply cut out a piece of coffee filter and insert it into the filter ring. That's right, just use a simple coffee filter to get rid of the oil. It also has a threaded cap, which makes it easy to attach and detach the funnel from the pump. What's more, a stand is provided to elevate the pump high enough to drain into a food storage container to collect used oil to put back into the funnel. This stand is quite sturdy, printed in two copies and glued back-to-back for added stability. If you're not satisfied with the design, don't worry – a FreeCAD file is available if you want to modify it for some other vacuum pump.
