Human: Lichen-encrusted boulder on Hartleyburn Common, south of Blenkinsop Castle in Northumberland. Oddly, this stone was missing from the Beckensall Archive until it was added to the ERA by NADRAP in 2008 as 'Hartleyburn Common 5'. The NADRAP team documented: "This small stone measures 0.83 x 0.61 meters and has a busy design carved on its south-to-north sloping face. The motifs consist of approximately 15 single cups scattered about the surface, 10 cups with single rings, some of which are joined, and four more cups possibly featuring rings or partial rings. A number of short grooves may also connect the motifs, but the busy design makes this difficult to determine." They also made observations about the stone's placement in relation to cairns and possible cultivation. ERA Record: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=749 Model created from a single stereo pair captured during NADRAP recording in March 2008. The imagery forms part of the NADRAP / ERA archive.
