Hartford Whalers Logo & Refrigerator Magnet
thingiverse
This is based on an SVG logo of the iconic Hartford Whalers, a legendary team that may be gone but will forever hold a special place in NHL history. Their logo remains one of the most cherished in league annals, with its sleek design and clever use of negative space between the W and whale's tail to form an H. This is the 1992 revised version of the logo, which I personally find captivating. Initially, I designed it as a 3D logo, but then realized it would make a fantastic fridge magnet if scaled down and adorned with divots at the bottom to hold magnets in place. I created it to fit 6.35mm x 1.53mm disc magnets I had on hand, and you can easily add cut-outs for any type of magnet using CAD programs or services. According to Wikipedia: The original Hartford Whalers logo (1979–1992) was crafted by Peter Good, a graphic designer from Connecticut. It pairs a green "W" with a blue whale's tail to form the letter "H" in the negative space between the two shapes. The "W" represents Whalers and the "H" stands for Hartford. In 1992, the logo underwent changes, featuring darker colors and a silver background, along with subtle modifications to the shape of the whale's tail and "W".
