Remix of the Spritztruder by Kitemare, for i3 Rework - Custom Extruder Design I redesigned the Kitemare Spritztruder to better fit my needs on an i3 Rework printer, incorporating parts from the compact E3D extruder and making adjustments to enhance its performance. Specifically, I added a modified idler to provide more support for drive gears. My design now uses traditional herringbone gears like Greg's Accessible Extruder, making it easier to integrate with existing systems. Furthermore, it has been adapted to work seamlessly with 30ml syringes from Terumo - purchased online via eBay. These larger syringes have a diameter of 25mm and an internal width of 22.5mm. I tested Kitemare's original Spritztruder with marlin firmware and discovered that setting the extrusion multiplier to 1% using M221 s1 was sufficient for maintaining an adequate gear ratio, despite it being more of a quick fix than ideal. Another important adjustment I made is fitting a thermister, which enables temperature adjustments via m302 settings to avoid overheating during extrusion. Please note that while this project is still in the early stages of testing, I have yet to conduct extensive trials using different materials. Next on my agenda is running thorough tests using clay as a medium and then transitioning to more delicate pastes such as chocolate and sugar. As for now, however, please be aware that these pastes require higher pressure levels than most commonly encountered in standard 3D printing projects. For assembly and maintenance, pay particular attention to the plunger drive gear setup. Secure this part firmly using a carefully prepared M8 bolt with chamfered edges - file off about 1.5mm from one side and approximately 2.5mm from the other, utilizing a vice and quality file for smooth results. Components: - M3x50 bolts: required pieces: 2 - M3 washers: number of parts needed: 4 - idler springs: amount required: 2 - M3x30 bolt: a single piece will suffice. - M3x40 bolts, with number of units: 2 - Additional materials to consider - small quantities for proper placement: Small parts in assorted counts - refer specific instructions below. **Important Details For Building** 1. Use 2 x chamfered sides for plunger gear securement - 30° file will create best finish. M3 Bolts Count M3 Bolts (4), 608 Ball Bearigs 8. This should ensure no slipping due to pressure at high torque rates while the extrusion pump handles very dense paste mediums - all tested using standard settings. **Final Note:** Using these new adjustments with standard marlin will significantly speed up material dispensation in both standard applications or when working in a heavy-duty setup, and that this will enable an effortless experience once proper assembly has been conducted as described here. Listed items above to use for the creation of the Spritztruder Rework design - M8 washers (6) - 1no. Chamfer Bolt with nut to fasten plunger shafts - securing the components using flat edges that ensure smooth flow through rod holes at top. - Rod used - (m4x20mm), bearings included and should fit on opposite sides for extra balance when the system goes under extreme force.
