Harpoon, Sea mammal bone. XCB-105-4069. 400 BCE -100 CE XCB-105 Adamagan, an Aleut place name meaning "place of walrus hunters," is located at the head of Morzhovoi Bay on the western Alaska Peninsula. At its peak between 400 BCE and 100 CE, it was a massive village with multiple occupations and the largest in the Arctic, housing approximately 1000 people. Occupation periods also date back to 2200-1700 BCE, 1000-600 BCE, and 900-1100 CE. Western Alaska Peninsula artifacts were made possible by research grants from NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led the investigation as Principal Investigator. Scanning was performed using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Processing in Geomagic or Polyworks occurred, with 2-8 photos used for texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitization took place at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing and publication were completed at Global Digital Heritage.
