Harpoon Base, Sea Mammal Bone. XCB-105-3578. 400 BCE - 100 CE XCB-105 Adamagan (Aleut for place of walrus hunters) leads Morzhovoi Bay's western Alaska Peninsula. A massive village with multiple occupations, it is a major settlement. Estimated to have had 1000 people during its peak occupation from 400 BCE to 100 CE, it was the Arctic's largest village at that time. Additionally, limited occupations are dated 2200-1700 BCE, 1000-600 BCE, and 900-1100 CE. Western Alaska Peninsula artifacts result from research funded by NSF grants 9630072, 9814086, 9996372, 9996415, 1139266, and 1321411. Principal Investigator H. Maschner led the investigation. These artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Processed in Geomagic or Polyworks, 2-8 photos were used for texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitizing work was done at IVL's Id. St. Univ. location, with subsequent processing and publication completed by Global Digital Heritage. License:
