One of Britain's most isolated and breathtakingly sited Roman forts, Hardknott stands proudly in Cumbria, commanding the stunning Eskdale Valley and the ancient Roman road to Ravenglass. Strategically situated on a three-acre plot, this fort has been a testament to Roman engineering since its establishment in the early second century AD. Guarding the fort from all four corners are four imposing internal towers, with this one being the eastern sentinel. Uniquely designed without any ground-level entrances, these towers stand as a testament to the ingenuity of the Roman builders who crafted them over 1,800 years ago. This remarkably detailed model was brought to life through an incredible 126 photographs, painstakingly assembled by skilled artisans to recreate the fort's intricate architecture and rugged beauty.
