Hard Drive Enclosure V5 (7mm)
pinshape
This model of the Hard Drive Enclosure series is designed to be more space-efficient and use fewer materials. It requires only 32 grams of material to print at 100% infill, making it a great choice for those looking to minimize waste. With a print height of just .1mm, both pieces can be printed in about 7-8 hours, depending on other quality settings. The design calls for four M3 screws to mount the hard drive, but they must have a thread length of more than 3mm to catch the threads of the hard drive itself securely. The opening exposes the entire SATA connection bracket, ensuring compatibility with many SATA to USB cables. A .5mm gap between the PCB of the hard drive and the base helps prevent damage if dropped or exposed to accidental electrostatic discharge. To ensure a smooth finish, post-processing is necessary: remove any stringing from the mounting pegs in the base, make sure the enclosure fits together well, and over-tighten your M3 screws through the enclosure holes before mounting your drive. Failure to do this can result in cross-threading with the hard drive's threading, which could cause damage. Unfortunately, due to design issues, 9.5, 12.5, and 15mm hard drives are not compatible with this iteration, but expect compatibility with the V6 design coming soon.
