Harbor Freight Dust Collector Adapter
thingiverse
This modification adjusts the 5-inch intake on a Harbor Freight dust collector to accommodate a more standard 6-inch hose. It replaces the Y fitting on the impeller intake using the factory bolt to secure it into place. It's designed for a precise fit. You'll need to carefully work it into position and keep the bolt hole in the adapter aligned with the bolt hole in the impeller intake. Once pressed on, it won't turn easily. I used a little paste wax to help everything go smoothly into place. The Test Collars.stl are test pieces designed to verify your scale is accurate. The small ring has an inside-diameter matching the ID of the small adapter end and fits snugly onto the dust collector. The large ring has an outside-diameter matching the OD of the large adapter end, suitable for fitting into a 6-inch dust hose. I used them as quick prints to ensure sizing was correct. Printed with three shells at 40% infill for added strength. Although PLA is not typically subjected to dynamic loads, it's still essential not to overtighten the hose clamp on the large end. The small end remains well-supported by the impeller intake. The print settings for Test Collars.stl are less critical since they're primarily used to test sizing.
