A fun and easy DIY project to ring in the new year with friends and family is a hand-cranked "Happy New Year!" sign. Check out this cool video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jsRoVokIZM that shows how it's made. This design was created using Sketchup 8, which is free, and printed on a Makerbot Replicator 2 using PLA with the standard settings in Makerware 2.3.3.42. We're making a few of these to hand out as simple party favors at our New Year's Eve celebration.
